Poster for Clutch-A-Thon 2025

Dear reader, sometimes a great plan just comes together. What makes a great plan? Well, bud, that's when doing something good is both easy to accomplish and fun. That's the recipe. And it seems like Ericka (Throwing Bows) has gone and figured out exactly that formula when she came up with the 2025 Clutch-A-Thon.

The Clutch-A-Thon Breakdown

It's straightforward, which, you know, is a nice touch:

  1. The Clutch-A-Thon happens from October 17th-19th

  2. It costs $15 dollars per person - but you can spend another $10 if you want premier clutches to count for 2 points

  3. Throw 81 clutches and record 'em (honor system, friend-o). Each clutch you hit is a point

  4. Report your score to Throwing Bows (Ericka Gannon)

  5. No limit on entries, so you can throw 81 times at clutch as many times as you want to get the best score you can

  6. If you get a number of people at your venue to participate ( if your venue is participating), you can have a venue battle to see which axe house is the top dawwwwggg)

  7. THERE ARE PRIZES you can win, including (so far):

    1. an 81 axe handle

    2. prize bags

    3. a practice hour at your venue (for participating venues)

What's the money for?

Well, so glad you asked.

Every year, Throwing Bows does the Super Plunge, a frigid series of 24 plunges into the beloved Chesapeake over 24 hours. All money raised for the Super Plunge 2026 goes to the Maryland Special Olympics - and all the money raised from the Clutch-A-Thon goes there, too.

You read that right: You get to throw a whole bunch of Clutch practice AND get to support people who love sport as much as we love axe throwing.

Ok, so how do I get ready to participate?

Easy cheesy: Talk to your venue about participating, or reserve an hour or so at your local venue (if they aren't participating). Then, follow those steps I listed above OR check out that video I shared/join the Facebook group for more info.

Listen - this is such an easy, fun way to support the great work Ericka does/Special Olympics does, and you can do it from wherever you normally throw. So sign up, why dontcha?
